About Rookie Mama

When I first became pregnant I quickly realized what little experience I had to prepare me for the biggest responsibility of my life. Sure, I'd changed my share of diapers, I'd rocked babies to sleep and I'd chased down runaway toddlers but when it came to being a motherto dedicating my every waking hour (and many not so wakeful hours) to a tiny human being completely dependent upon me

I had zero experience.

I was a rookie through and through.

Learning as much as I could about pregnancy, child birth, and caring for the little miracle budding inside me quickly became my focus. I spent my pregnancy scouring baby reviews, picking the brains of parents I trusted and reading whatever blogs looked interesting. Now that I've become a mother myself, I want to share my experiences with others (the good, the bad and the hilarious) as I try to navigate my way through sleepless nights, endless diaper changes, doctor's appointments and the ups and downs of parenting -- all with minimal mulla to spend.

As a rookie mama, I'm learning more and more about this whole parenting thing every day.  I hope you'll learn (and laugh) along with me.

About The Rookie

I am a 20-something first-time mama with a deep love for writing and sharing stories. Raised by parents regularly on-the-move, I grew up between Canada and the United States and spent my high school years in Switzerland. I graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in Sociology and minors in African Studies and International Development. After college (and before mamahood), I worked with different non-profit organizations fighting to end poverty in Africa and South East Asia.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (yup, I'm a Mormon!), family and service is at the core of everything I do. I believe each and every person has incredible potential for growth and am passionate about creating new opportunities for those who need them most.
